OUR HISTORY The Stepping Stone Education Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization created in 1985 as an after school program for school age children in the Phoenixville area. In 1987 preschool classes for three, four and five year olds were added. From 1994 until 2008, SSEC concentrated solely on educating preschool children. In September of 2008, SSEC took a leap of faith and created a new school at Franklin Commons. This new building allowed the expansion of programs to include fulltime preschool for three, four and five year olds, a Kindergarten Enrichment class, a Summer Camp for preschoolers and school age children and an After School program for elementary age students. To provide the best opportunities for the children and their families, SSEC works closely with the Phoenixville Area School District, Chester County Intermediate unit, Center for the Arts and Technology, Valley Forge Christian College, Phoenixville Community Health Foundation and the Phoenixville Community Education Foundation. In the past twenty-five years, over 1000 children have experienced a unique preschool education with SSEC! OUR VISION The Stepping Stone Education Center accepts each and every child regardless of their educational or financial needs. Learning experiences are provided to support each child’s individual intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual growth in a safe and fun environment. SSEC focuses on the needs of the whole family by offering parent seminars, providing activities for families to enjoy together and connecting those families in need with local social service agencies. |
