Melissa S – Director
I was born and raised in Phoenixville, PA, but currently live in Royersford with my husband and my 2 children. I have my bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and have been with Stepping Stone since 2008. I enjoy watching each and every child grow and learn through everyday experiences in the classroom. In my spare time I love to spend time with family and friends.
Karen W – Administrative Assistant
I’m happy to be back at Stepping Stone Education Center. I taught at Stepping Stone from 1998-2008, and have a background in early childhood special education. I can’t imagine doing anything else but working with young children! My husband and I live in Phoenixville and have 2 sons, a daughter, and a son in law! In my spare time I enjoy gardening, photography, and taking kickboxing classes.
Kathii M – Financial Administrator
I have been Involved with SSEC since 1993 and served on the Board for over 23 years and as Board Chair for over 13 years. Recently I stepped down as Board Chair and have taken on the role of Financial Administrator at the Center. I also run the finances for another business in Phoenixville and do private personal training for my clients on the nights and weekends. I am the proud parent of three Stepping Stone alumnae and have been involved in the childcare field for over 25 years.
Bonnie L – Teacher
I was born and raised in Valley Forge and am a graduate of the Phoenixville Area High School. My husband, Josh, and I have three children, Josh, Stephen, and Emily all who have attended SSEC. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and also my family pets, which include a horse, 2 dogs and a cat. I have my CDA (Child Development Associate) & enjoy working at SSEC and sharing a lot of fun times with the children. I have been with Stepping Stone since 2008!
Amy B – Teacher
I was born and raised in Phoenixville and am a Phoenixville Area High School graduate. I went on to receive a degree at the Pennsylvania Business Institute. I worked as an insurance agent for many years. I reside in Phoenixville with my husband and 2 daughters. I enjoy spending time with my family and 2 dogs. I have been working with children for the last 5 years and have been at Stepping Stone Education Center since 2014.
Abby G – Teacher
I grew up in Phoenixville and graduated from the Phoenixville Area High
School in 2013. I then attended Elizabethtown College where I studied
Early Childhood and Special Education and received my Bachelor of Science
in Early Childhood Education in 2017. I am very active in community
theater and love acting and music!
Madi B – Teacher
I am a sophomore at Eastern University. My major is Biology. I have been working in childcare for a year and I am so happy to be part of Stepping Stone Education Center.
Eboni C – Teacher
I was born and raised in Phoenixville. I took several child development classes and have 4 years’ experience working with children. I am currently a student at Montgomery County Community College. I am majoring in Early Childhood and Education. I am happy to be a part of the SSEC team!
Brittany O – Teacher
I was born and raised in Phoenixville. Currently, I am 19 years old and a 2015 graduate of Phoenixville Area High School. Right now I am attending Gwynedd Mercy University and chose to work for Stepping Stone because of my love for children. I enjoy working with all children and all different age groups. At Stepping Stone I will be fulfilling my enjoyment of working with children.
Jamie H – Teacher
In 2008 I graduated from Montgomery County Community College and received my associates in Early Childhood Education. In 2011 I graduated from Eastern University and received my bachelors in Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education. I enjoy being outdoors, hiking, camping, going to the beach and site seeing. Some of my favorite things are shopping, painting, drawing, crafts and spending time with my daughter. I enjoy working with children and have been working in the field for 10 years.
Rachel B – Teacher
I graduated from Great Valley High School in 2014. I enjoy the outdoors and I love working with children. In my free time I like to go on adventurous nature walks and go fishing with my friends.
Desiree D – Teacher
I moved to Phoenixville in 2005 and have lived here ever since. I am a 2015 graduate of Phoenixville Area High School. In my free time I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends and going on adventures. I am so excited to be a part of this team and the growth and development of the children here.
Colleen R – Teacher
I have had a passion for teaching for as long as I can remember. In 2013, I took part in an internship program where I student taught children of all ages that lasted a year. My favorite aspect of it was working in an elementary special needs classroom. I went on to study education (Pre-K to 4) and business management at Kutztown University. I believe that young children are just a in touch with their emotions as adults, so it is important to me to incorporate compassion and understanding into my teaching technique. I also have a strong passion for the arts, and believe a concentration on artwork assists students in excelling in all areas!
Sarah N – Teacher
I was born and raised in Rhode Island and recently moved to Pennsylvania. I studied Early Childhood Education and Psychology at Gordon College in Massachusetts. I have been working in childcare for over 10 years primarily with young toddlers and infants. In my free time I love to sing, read, paint & watch movies with my husband. I am very excited to be in the Infant room here at Stepping Stone Education Center.
Danielle G – Teacher
I was born in Bucks County, PA. I graduated from Bensalem High School in 2010 and I am currently attending Kaplan University, where I am working towards a Bachelors Degree in Human Services. I have over 10 years of experience working with children. I began my childcare career at 14 years old when I worked as a camp counselor. Since then, I have worked in daycare settings with ages ranging from 0-3 years. Working with children has always been my passion. I enjoy educating, because seeing children grow and reach different milestones is extremely rewarding, both for myself and the families I have the privilege of meeting.
Nora C – Teacher
I am from Long Island, NY and currently live in Pottstown with my 4 year old daughter, 2 step kids, my fiancé and our 3 dogs. I have my bachelors in Marketing, my aesthetics license and my CDA. Watching my daughter grow and develop inspired me to become a teacher. I have been in the childcare field for 3 years. In my spare time I enjoy riding horses and spending time with my family and dogs.
Emily M – Teacher
I graduated from Phoenixville Area High School if 2015. Since then, I have been attending Eastern University. I will be graduating in December 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in social work. I have always had an interest in working with kids, so it is a pleasure for me to work with the children at Stepping Stone Education Center.
Niandrea M – Teacher
I graduated from Phoenixville Area High School 2016. I’m currently attending West Chester University and majoring in Child Psychology. In my spare time I enjoy swimming, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I have been teaching at Stepping Stone since 2015 and enjoy watching the children grow and learn every day.
OUR BOARD & TEAM
Lew Osterhoudt – Board Chair (1997 to present)
Lew is SSEC’s current Board Chair. He is retired from his former job as Vice President/General Manager of the Keystone Filter Division of Met-Pro Corporation. He is the father of two grown daughters who are Stepping Stone alumnae and who have since worked at SSEC. Lew holds an engineering degree from Lehigh University and has published several technical articles in educational journals and he received a patent for a new technology he developed during his last job. He also serves on the Boards of The Phoenixville Rotary Club and The Clinic, which is a free medical clinic in Phoenixville that offers medical care to the uninsured or underinsured. He is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Phoenixville where he has served as an elder, deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Chris Cobb – Treasurer (February 2016 to present)
Chris Cobb was born and raised in California. He moved to Pennsylvania in 1998 and currently lives in Spring City with his wife, April, and their four children. Chris is a Board member for Coventry Soccer Association and the East Vincent Township Parks & Rec Committee. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Santa Clara University and a Master Degree from Drexel University. He worked in the Infant room at Stepping Stone before moving into the office as the Operations Coordinator for 5 years. He is currently the IT Data Analyst for Downingtown Area School District.
April Klotzbach – Board Member (April 2011 to present)
April joined the Phoenixville Community in 2001 when she started with National Penn Bank. She met her husband Josh in 2002 and together they continue to run the family funeral homes. April is a mother of two beautiful little girls, Brynn and Morgan, both whom attended Stepping Stone. The girls continue to support the summer camp programs and family events that SSEC holds annually.
April focuses mostly on work and her family, but is heavily involved with the community. Along with the SEEC board, April is a member / involved with the Soroptimist Club of Phoenixville, the Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville, the Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Home and School Associations and the American Cancer Society (Relay for Life and Bark for Life). In her spare time she enjoys Friday Family Fun Nights, Sunday Fundays, family, friends, camping and trips to Ocean City Maryland.
Jason Pepe – Board Member (June 2016 to present)
Jason is Vice President/Portfolio Manager of Sterling Advisors, a division of BB&T Securities, LLC. BB&T Securities is a wholly owned non-bank subsidiary of BB&T Corporation. Jason holds a Finance degree from Penn State University and a MBA from Villanova University. He is the father of three.
Margaret Pearsall – Board Member (August 2016 to present)
Margaret retired from the Phoenixville Area School District where she served as principal of the Kindergarten Center and reading supervisor for 16 years. Prior to that, she was a reading specialist in the Coatesville School District, specializing in Early Literacy Instruction. She holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, an M.S. in Reading, and a B.A. in Psychology and Early Childhood Education. She currently works for a nonprofit organization supporting adult English language learners.
